The city is now on its second week of Covid-19 surge with an average daily number of new cases at four digits.
As of today (Jan. 24) new cases in the city reached 1,395 based on the report of Department of Health (DOH) Covid-19 regional daily case bulletin.
On January 20, the city recorded 1,020 active cases, following the 1,197 logged on January 19. On January 21, the city recorded 1,540 new active cases.
“We are in the second week of the surge. One of the doctors said the surge will be until mid- March, hopefully not but if forecasting lang naa sa mga ingon ana. So layo layo pa gyud ta sa peak aning Omicron,” Sara said.
She reminded the public to be extra careful, keep distance, wear masks, and practice proper hygiene.
In the wake of the surge, the city has activated the home isolation program as of January 22.
Sara also confirmed there are currently 822 houses which are locked down including one building, and one compound. Up to 1,112 health personnel are utilized in these lockdowns, she said.
Out of 2,806 quarantine beds, 889 are still available as of Jan. 23. (BY JUDY QUIROS)
