Personnel from both offices provided hot porridge, biscuits, and coffee to more than 1,000 evacuees temporarily taking shelter at a nearby barangay covered court in the aftermath of the incident.
Initial reports said hundreds of houses in Purok 4D–Mini Forest and Purok 5–Isla Verde in Barangay 23-C were destroyed after the fire broke out at around 8 p.m. on Friday.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection–11, the blaze escalated to a fourth alarm, prompting the deployment of seven to eight fire trucks, along with volunteer firefighters and barangay emergency responders.
Firefighters declared the fire under control at 11:44 p.m.
Authorities are still conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office estimated that around 800 to 900 families were affected by the incident, although validation of the exact number of displaced families is still ongoing.
