Paolo Tancontian is now a member of FIAS Sports and Active Society Commission tasked to propagate Sambo even more around the world.
In a Facebook post, Tancontian is grateful for the position given to him by FIAS.
"Thank you Heavenly Father. Thank you FIAS for the Appointment I will work harder for development of Sambo," Tancontian said.
Earlier, Tancontian expressed deep gratitude to all those people who voted for him to lead the newly recognized sport organization of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Davaoeno Paolo Tancontian said he could not believe that a boy from the province would lead a fast-rising National Sports Association in the Philippines.
Now that he gets the chance to head Pilipinas Sambo, Tancontian vowed to do his best to propagate the sport even more and produce more world-class athletes.
"Now that I am given the opportunity to lead the association I worked hard to establish, I will do the full extent of my capacity para mas ma propagate pa ito and produce more competitive athletes that will give honor to our beloved country," Tancontian said.
"I am a man of action. I let my actions speak for my words. Pero makakaasa po ang lahat na gagawin ko ang abot ng aking makakaya para sa Pilipinas Sambo, para sa atletang Pilipino Para sa Dios at sa Bayan," Tancontian added.
Before becoming the president of Pilipinas Sambo, Tancontian is the secretary-general of the same NSA.
Learning judo at the age of seven, Tancontian is an eight-year mainstay of the Philippine National Team.
