In a matter of minutes, years of hard work and memories were lost. Families fled in fear, carrying only their loved ones and the hope that they could somehow begin again.
In the midst of this tragedy, help arrived.
The office of Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, together with Vice Mayor Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II, extended immediate assistance to the affected families, bringing not just relief goods—but a sense of comfort in a time of despair.
Each family received food packs, emergency kits, and kitchenware—simple yet essential items that mark the first steps toward rebuilding their daily lives.
More than that, for five consecutive days, the victims were provided with warm meals—breakfast and lunch—ensuring that even in their most difficult moments, they would not go hungry.
The effort also reached beyond Barangay 31-D, as a family affected by a separate fire in Barangay 9-A was likewise given assistance, proving that no call for help goes unheard.
VM Rigo personally delivered the aid, going directly to the victims, offering not just supplies but presence, compassion, and reassurance.
In every meal served and every relief pack distributed, one message stood clear–they are not alone.
Though the fire may have taken their homes, it did not take away their hope—strengthened by a community willing to stand with them as they begin again.
