10ID joins national simultaneous earthquake drill
MAWAB, Davao de Oro – Personnel of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division participated in the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr., Mawab, Davao de Oro on March 12, 2026.
The exercise simulated a magnitude 7.2 earthquake affecting Davao de Oro, with strong tremors felt in Mawab, causing simulated damage to several camp facilities. Troops and civilian employees immediately executed the standard “Duck, Cover, and Hold” safety procedure.
Two emergency scenarios were conducted to test response capability. The first simulated a structural collapse within the camp that resulted in casualties, prompting the immediate deployment of search and rescue teams and medical responders.
The second scenario simulated an electrical explosion that triggered a fire incident in another area of the camp. Emergency responders swiftly conducted fire suppression, evacuation, and casualty rescue operations.
Major General Alvin Luzon, Commander of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division, emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating, “Preparedness is a shared responsibility—through constant training and drills, we ensure our troops are always ready to protect lives and respond effectively in times of disaster.”
The hands-on drill strengthened disaster response coordination and ensured the readiness of personnel to effectively respond to emergency situations.
