“Magtulungan lang po tayong lahat. Sino ba naman ang magtutulungan kundi tayong lahat Pilipino. Paalala ko din na mag-ingat po tayong lahat at unahin natin ang ating buhay dahil ang pera, kikitain; ang gamit, nabibili; pero ang buhay ay hindi nabibili ng pera. A lost life is a lost life forever,” Go said in a message.
Working closely with local leaders, including Compostela Mayor Levi Ebdao, Montevista Mayor Cyrex Basalo, Maco Mayor Arthur Rimando, Mabini Mayor Emerson Luego, Mawab Mayor Myrill Apit, Nabunturan Mayor Myrocel Clarin Balili, and Monkayo Mayor Manuel Zamora Jr., the senator’s team turned over food packs, shirts, pens, electric fans, and balls to 300 affected residents in Maco and 150 beneficiaries in each municipality of Mawab, Nabunturan, Monkayo, and Mabini.
Beyond immediate relief, Go renewed his call for stronger disaster preparedness and sustainable solutions to better protect vulnerable communities. He reiterated the importance of fully implementing Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities nationwide.
As the principal author and co-sponsor of the measure, Go emphasized the urgent need for safe, clean, and well-equipped evacuation centers with adequate sanitation facilities and readily accessible medical supplies, particularly in disaster-prone areas.
He likewise refiled his proposal, creating a Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR) under Senate Bill No. 170. The measure aims to consolidate disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation efforts under a single specialized agency, ensuring faster and more coordinated government action during emergencies.
“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ’yan sa Panginoon," Go underscored.
