Davao Light powers up Davao del Norte Hospital

Davao Light and Light Company has successfully energized the Davao del Norte Hospital-Kapalong zone following the switch on ceremony held Monday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2026.

Davao Light reported that the energization was made possible  through the completion of a 12-kilometer distribution  line extension from Barangay Pag-Asa  to the Kapalong Municipal Hall.

With the hospital’s  application and service  connection finalized, the facility is now officially powered by Davao Light , ensuring reliable  and stable electricity  to support its healthcare  operations. Apart from the hospital,  some 40 households in the area  have also already been  energized.

The continued expansion of Davao Light is in compliance with Republic Act No. 12144, which extended the company’s franchise authority.

Davao Light has been authorized  to operate in Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro  after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)  issued a provisional Certificate    of Public Convenience   and Necessity.

Chief of Hospital  Dr. Jessie Belga said the  transfer of power supply from Nordeco to Davao Light  is more than a technical change, it is a step towards strengthening  the reliability, safety and efficiency of  the services they provide to their patients and their community.

Davao Light president and chief operations officer Enriczar Tia said the energization of the hospital marks the beginning of  Davao Light’s serving  its first customer in their expanded franchise.

“Today’s energization demonstrates our commitment to promptly bring reliable service to critical institutions such as the hospital, ensuring that essential public services are supported without delay,” Tia said.

He said stable and dependable electricity is crucial to  life-saving equipment and patient care.

Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib in his speech  said the transition of the energy service from the previous cooperative to Davao Light is a victory for every resident who has suffered  years  of high rates and frequent brownouts.
