DCM welcomes Kapalong expansion, reminds Davao Light to strengthen frontline services

The Davao Consumer Movement acknowledges Davao Light’s continued expansion in the province of Davao del Norte, in line with its mandate under Republic Act 12144.

On September 5, 2025, Davao Light formally installed 45 distribution poles in the municipality of Kapalong, marking a visible step in the utility’s infrastructure rollout across the region.

As Davao Light advances its integration of digital and smart-grid technologies, DCM underscores the critical need to uphold strong, personnel-led customer service systems.

A recent complaint aired on Brigada News FM regarding persistent low voltage issues underscores the urgency of responsive frontline support. The customer cited repeated, unsuccessful attempts to reach Davao Light over several weeks, with no resolution at the time of their public disclosure. In response, Davao Light spokesperson Fermin Edillon committed to investigating the matter.

Similar grievances have emerged across social media platforms, pointing to a recurring pattern of service lapses within the franchise area. As Davao Light expands its customer base, DCM calls on the utility to decisively strengthen its customer service infrastructure, particularly those managed by frontline personnel, to ensure prompt and effective resolution of concerns.

Reinforcing these systems is not optional; it is imperative to maintaining public confidence and delivering fair, reliable service across its growing coverage area. #
