All roads now lead to SM City Davao as huge expansion wing opens

SM City Davao is drawing crowds with the soft opening of its new expansion wing, designed by renowned architect Royal Pineda, known for his modern Filipino style.

The wing features a striking blend of natural elements and cultural heritage, impressing mallgoers with its thoughtful design and distinctly Filipino feel.

Adding to the excitement, several first-in-Mindanao brands have opened, including Masa Madre, Chili’s, Brique, Nanyang, Juego, Anta, Flying Tiger Copenhagen, Cole Haan, and Good One — making the mall even more of a shopping hotspot.

Naturally, the influx of visitors has caused heavy traffic around the mall. But once inside, the stress seems to melt away, thanks to the expansive and well-cooled interiors, stunning natural landscapes, and eye-catching cultural installations that offer a refreshing and immersive experience.

So far, only the ground and second floors of the new seven-story structure that spans a total of 100,000 square meters have opened to the public, yet the buzz is already undeniable.

The 1st and 2nd levels house the new retail spaces, the 3rd and 4th levels are designated for parking, while the 5th  to 7th  floors will soon become home to National University-Davao — the first NU campus in Mindanao.

According to SM City Davao Information Officer Kristianne Fusilero, about 15 of the 60 new stores have already opened, with more expected to follow in the coming weeks.

With this major expansion, SM City Davao is not just a shopping destination;  it is shaping up to be a cultural and commercial landmark in the region.
