The athlete, a member of the Secondary Girls Sepak Takraw team, began showing signs of illness including a three-day fever, dizziness, vomiting during transit to the hospital, and pallor. She had taken 500 mg of paracetamol at around 10:00 AM in an effort to reduce her fever.
She was assessed at around 11:00 AM at La Filipina Elementary School in Barangay La Filipina, Tagum City. Her vital signs were recorded as follows: temperature – 37.7°C, pulse rate – 86 bpm, blood pressure – 125/72 mmHg, respiratory rate – 18 bpm, and oxygen saturation – 96%.
Following the evaluation, the patient was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Carmen District Hospital in the Municipality of Carmen. After receiving appropriate care, she was brought back to the DAVRAA medical post at La Filipina Elementary School.
By 8:01 PM, medical results confirmed that the athlete tested positive for Dengue NS1 antigen. The DAVRAA Medical Operations Center immediately coordinated her transfer back to the City of Mati for further medical care. She is currently en route to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center, accompanied by medical personnel aboard a Highlander and Medic 51.
