The “donate” button in the application will give Dabawenyos the option whether to claim the gift packages or donate them to disaster-hit areas in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
Mayor Sara Duterte said the city will collate all the donated grocery packs by January and give it to areas hit by Typhoon Odette.
“We can monitor it because they have assigned stores depending on their address,” Sara said.
To recall, the city government expanded the use of the Safe Davao QR from a mere contact tracing of possible COVID-19 infected individuals and prohibiting non-essential movement to social services and disaster assistance and now for the distribution of Christmas grocery packs.
The addition of the “donate” feature came after several Dabawenyos proposed to donate their Christmas gift to the typhoon victims.
The mayor had said the city has prepared approximately two million grocery packs for those who registered as residents in the city to DQR.
She stressed that the city will only pay for the grocery packs that were claimed or donated.
