P14.4-M shabu seized in Davao City checkpoint

DAVAO CITY- Police operatives are continuously hunting down a man who accordingly threw a box containing suspected shabu worth about P14.4 million at a checkpoint in Barangay Lacson, Calinan District this city on Wednesday afternoon, May 29.

The unidentified man described by the authorities as wearing a black shirt, sunglasses, and jeans, was among the passengers of a Rural Tour bus that stopped for a routine screening at the checkpoint.

Task Force Davao (TFD) reported that while all passengers got off the bus for inspection, the suspect went back and threw a box beside the bus and swiftly fled the area.

Other passengers and residents nearby  panicked before authorities found out that the box contains suspected illegal drugs.

Upon checking, the box was found to contain suspected shabu weighing approximately 900 grams and with a n estinated street value of  P14,400 million.

TFD commander Colonel Darren Comia commended the unwavering dedication of his personnel and Davao City Police Office praising their diligence in carrying out their assigned duties.

"The interception of illicit substances at our city's border control points highlights the effectiveness of our stringent checkpoint operations in preventing the entry of illegal items. This underscores our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of every Dabawenyo," said Comia.

All seized evidence is securely held by the police pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
