The turnover of the said building materials commenced at Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Sainz on Thursday, April 11.
Mati City Information Office reported that a total of 617 pieces of premium lumber in various sizes were received by these families to help in the reconstruction of their houses washed away by the floods in the recent months.
Present during the said event were Ma. Eden Thelma F. Quiñones CHRDMO Head, Jovelyn Lugo CiENRO head, and Arvin Carlom, Community Relations Manager of Hallmark Mining Corporation, along with other government representatives.
The premium lumbers were sourced from the wood stockpile of Hallmark Mining Corporation.
According to Arvin Carlom, the donation was made in response to the request of the LGU to aid the flood victims and was also done as part of their corporate social responsibility.
“This is a part of our corporate social responsibility. That outside of our mining activities we may also help people in need through this donation,” he said.
The flood victims are also given 80sqm lot per family in the designated area given by the Local Government Unit.
Beneficiaries of the said program are relieved that they are given assistance in reconstructing their homes after the deluge.
One of the beneficiaries is Jocelyn Love, who lost her home due to the flood and presently resides at an evacuation center as of the moment.
“I am happy and thankful, now that we have these materials so we may build our home again,” she said.
The City LGU will oversee the construction of the said houses.
A total of 156 families will receive the same assistance in the near future.
