Davao Light inaugurates new substation in Binugao, Toril

DAVAO CITY- The Davao Light and Power Company Inc. has inaugurated its new substation in Binugao, Toril District, this city Thursday (April 20).

Davao Light , an AboitizPower company in its report said the project will address the growing demand for electricity in the southern part of the city.

The new Binugao Substation with a capacity of 33MVA, addresses the need for more load capacity by transforming electricity on a sub-transmission level voltage into a distribution level to make it stable and ready for residential, commercial, or industrial use.

The new Binugao substation can help carry its load to prevent a longer duration of power interruption, which provides a more reliable service. The facility also has a switching station capable of interconnecting and switching between different supply lines making it more robust and less susceptible to interruptions.

Davao Light president and CEO Rodger Velasco led the switching ceremony attended by Davao Light executives, the project team from the Power Systems Design Department headed by Engineer Christian Laspoňa, and city officials.

“With the new fully digital Binugao Substation, we not only provide reliable power but also empower the communities we serve by investing in the latest technology so our infrastructures are aligned with the international standards of power distribution,” Velasco said in his speech.

Davao Light, the third largest privately-owned electric distribution utility in the country, paves the way for the development of future cities that will enrich the lives of its customers through its technological advancements.
