Ironkids spice up IM 70.3 Davao

DAVAO CITY---When the IRONKIDS Philippines 2023 is launched on March 25 at the Azuela Cove in Davao City, the future of the Philippine triathlon braces for another fierce battle in pursuit of top honors in their side of the swim and race in a competitive but friendlier setting.

New distances are being added by the event's organizer, The IRONMAN Group/Sunrise Events, Inc., to boost participation while also allowing 15-year-old bidders to compete while they train for future, more difficult contests by adding an extra year to the premier side.

There will be four individual competitions, including those for the 6–8 age group (100m swim and 1km run), the 9–10 age group (150m swim and 1.5km run), the 11–12 age group (200m and 1.5km run), and the 13–15 age group (250m and 2km run).

The mixed-team relay awards for the age groups 6–10 (100m swim and 1 km run) and 11–15 (200m swim and 1.5 km run) are also up for debate.

The Ladies' Run on March 24 will spice up the long fun weekend and create lifelong bonds through everyday activity.

Before the pandemic, the IRONKIDS ushered in several IRONMAN competitions, fostering the sport's growth and ensuring a consistent stream of talent. In the Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite last October, it celebrated its comeback to the mainstream.

The event has also aided in the development of virtues like self-control, sportsmanship, and respect for others, as well as in minimizing gadget addiction among the kids and promoting an active lifestyle.(Romeo Braceros Jr,.)
