This developed after the 4th ID registered a decisive victory against the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions in 2022.
With the unprecedented accomplishments, 4th ID Commander Major General Wilbur C. Mamawag declared 2022 as a banner year for the Command, which will hopefully usher in a total victory in 2023.
Major Francisco Garello, spokesman of 4th ID said from January 1 to December 31, 2022, the command’s community support program resulted in the dismantling of five guerrilla fronts (GF68B, GF89, GF Malayag, GF Huawei, and GF19), one vertical unit (SRSDG Wei), an independent platoon (Platoon Ryan). Its focused military operation also resulted in 134 encounters that led to the neutralization of 317 CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) and the capture of 340 firearms and 41 Anti-Personnel Mines (APMs).
The Command’s intelligence operations also caused the neutralization of 23 priority high-value individuals (HVIs) including Rolando Rubilla Leyson Jr, Secretary of SRC Northland; Neneth Generalao Dolera, Secretary of GF19; and Noel Tumarlas Alacre, commanding officer of Platoon 2, WGF30.
Also neutralized were Raquel N Dahoyla, Secretary of SRC5, NCMRC; Vincent Isagani Madlos, Central Committee Member and Head National Technical Bureau NOC and Pedro Codaste, Member of NDF Central Committee.
4th ID, meanwhile, has cleared 9 out of its 12 Focus Areas (FocArs) resulting in the CTG losing its mass base support.
Mamawag, in his command guidance said they will maintain and improve their operational excellence by working closely with partners and stakeholders while investing in the enhancement of soldiers' skills and capabilities.
Mamawag urged his troopers to display the same commitment as they face the challenges ahead.
“I need every personnel's impeccable professionalism, resolve, and commitment to ensure the total defeat of the CTGs," Mamawag said.
