FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour to hit PH in 2023

DAVAO CITY--On Tuesday, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) announced that the FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy would visit the Philippines as part of its Trophy Tour in 2019.

PFF secretary-general lawyer Ed Gastanes, during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum, disclosed that FIFA had already gotten in touch with the national federation about the event.

Gastanes stated, "We have learned that the Philippines will participate in the Trophy Tour of the Women's World Cup in 2023." That's an excellent opportunity to rally support in the Philippines."

The Trophy Tour's specifics still need to be finalized, but Gastanes and PFF President Mariano "Nonong" Araneta think it will be the ideal occasion to promote the Philippine national women's football team before their World Cup campaign.

After reaching the AFC Women's Asian Cup semifinals in February, the Filipinas earned a spot in the competition that will take place in New Zealand and Australia the following year.

They were placed in Group A and co-hosted in New Zealand, Switzerland, and Norway.

The FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour began in February 2019 in Paris, France, the host city, and traveled to all 24 participating countries.
