Lourence Ilagan, Christian Perez, Paolo Nebrida, and Toru Suzuki of Japan, along with the top four finishers in the PDC Asian Championship in Fukuoka, Japan, were announced as the Asian Qualifiers for this year's World Darts Championship, to take place in Alexandra Palace in London from December 15 to January 3.
Christian Perez won the Asian Championship, earning $15,000 and a spot in the Asia Qualifiers for the Grand Slam of Darts in Aldersley, England, in 2022.
Paolo Nebrida won second place and received a cash prize of $7,000. Lourence Ilagan was defeated 6-1 by Perez in the semifinals, and Toru Sukuzi was defeated 6-3 by Nebrida.
The joint third and fourth-place finishers receive $5,000 apiece.
Alain Abiabi and RJ Escaros advanced to the top 16, but Raymond Copano was eliminated in the round-robin rounds. Leo Buizon and DJ Tongcopanon withdrew from the two-day Asian Series matches.
Having only advanced as far as the second round of the World Darts Championship, the Philippines has failed to secure a top placing.
Three of the top players from the nation are competing, and they want to go deep into the World Darts Championship stage.
The National Darts Federation of the Philippines and the Filipino darting community are pleased and proud of the achievements of Lourence Ilagan, Christian Perez, and Paolo Nebrida.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
