BOC Davao strengthens border protection measures with PCG-Task Force Aduana

DAVAO CITY – The Bureau of Customs -Port of Davao (BOC-Davao) is now strengthening its inter-agency coordination aiming for stronger border protection in their shared areas of responsibility.

In a statement, BOC-Davao Davao District Collector lawyer Erastus Sandino B. Austria said he discussed with partner agency the matters on law enforcement, especially the Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and other existing customs rules and regulations during a coordination meeting with the Philippine Coast Guard-Task Force Aduana (PCG-TFA) on August 2. 

Austria said the meeting also highlighted information gathering on the possible smuggling of cigarettes, fuel, drugs, and other antisocial commodities and on border protection through the possible deployment of more floating assets as an additional initiative of the partner offices. 

He said the BOC-Davao Davao will continue to collaborate closely with its partner law enforcement agencies to protect the borders of Mindanao from contrabands. 

Also during the meeting, the PCG-TFA presented their current accomplishments and their border security activities that aim to prevent smuggling, customs fraud, and other related illegal practices that undermine the country's welfare.
