Three of the youngest National Masters in Philippine chess will battle it out for the crown and bragging rights as the best young chesser in their age group.
Leading the way of this highly anticipated battle of young NMs is Christian Gian Karlo Arca, a 12-year-old NM from Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
Arca ruled the semifinals of the same tournament on November 13.
Arca scored 7.5 after nine rounds to rule the semifinals of the tournament participated by some of the top young chessers in the Philippines.
Challenging Arca for the crown and top prize of P3,000 are fellow young NMs Ivan Travis Cu who ranked third in the tournament.
Also out to give Arca a run for the money is NM Oshrie, James Reyes.
While the three are considered as the top seeds in the tournament, the other lower-rated grand finalist could also pull an upset and get the win.
The chess tournament for all Filipino players born from 2004 onwards is organized by Dr. Marlonsky chess center, a chess school located in Los Amigos, Tugbok District in Davao City.
The tournament is sponsored by Dr. Malon Sayson Jr. and will be facilitated by tournament director Arena Grandmaster Irwin A. Aton. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
