Almost 1-M Dabawenyos are fully vaccinated

DAVAO CITY- This city hits 75.67 percent or 908,101 of the 1.2 million target of fully Covid-29 vaccinated individuals, Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed Monday (Nov.22).

For the first dose, the city breached the 1,010,811 mark which is equivalent to 84.23 percent of the 1.2 million target herd immunity.

However, despite the impressive turnout of the vaccination rollout, it does not guarantee that the city will be able to hit its herd immunity target as mandated by the national government before 2021 ends, Sara said.

"We can't say, we can't promise. Let us strive to achieve the demand of our national government to hit the target of 100 percent herd immunity in Davao City," she said.

Out of the 1,010,811 first dose vaccines, 62,269 are medical healthcare workers (priority A1), 100,634 are senior citizens (A2), 182,184 are adults with comorbidities (A3), 2,456 pediatric 12-17 years old with comorbidities (pediatric A3), 493,711 essential workers (A4), 118,298 indigents/poor population (A5), and 14,210 rest of the adult population (ROAPI).

For the second dose, 57,647 are from A1, 93,671 from A2, 163,836 from A3, 70 from pediatric A3, 500,120 from A4, 91,733 from A5, and 1,024 from ROAPI.

Sara said she hopes that there would be a significant increase in the numbers during the national government's three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan from November 29 to December 1, 2021, which will be conducted in all operational vaccination sites in the city.

“No need to wait for that big event, you can do it as early as now, just go to the vaccine centers that cater to walk-ins, you can also participate in the mobile vaccination of the councilors,” Duterte added.

She reiterated that once an individual decides to get vaccinated, he or she can immediately avail of the vaccine since the City Government of Davao has already opened a lot of options for them.

The mayor also said that the Department of Health (DOH) and the Davao Covid-19 Task Force are studying other ways or systems that can be done to hasten the vaccination rollout and achieve herd immunity.
