2 NPA rebels killed, 1 surrender in Agusan del Norte encounter

DAVAO CITY- The relentless drive of the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division (ID) against the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) has neutralized two members of the rebel group in Barangay Jaliobong, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte on Sunday (April 17).

4th ID in its report has identified the slain NPA fighters as Samuel Batican and a certain ‘Yawming’. 

Troops recovered from the encounter site were an AR15 Rifle, an M14 Rifle and assorted personal belongings, including food supplies.

Meanwhile, a joint effort by the 36th Infantry Battalion and the 3rd Special Forces Battalion led to the successful surrender of a high-ranking communist terrorist leader (CTG) leader identified as Fortunato Suazo Undayon at Barangay Puyat, Carmen, Surigao del Sur.

Undayon also turned in one AK47 Rifle, a Caliber 30 M1 Carbine Rifle, and other war materiel.

Major General Wilbur C Mamawag, commander of 4th ID congratulated his team for their enthusiasm in upholding President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to bring to rapid conclusion the insurgency problem of the country.
