Davao City distributes food packs in Muslim communities

DAVAO CITY - At least 70,000 food packs will be distributed to Muslim communities in this city as they observe the Holy Month of Ramadan beginning Saturday.

The food packs are intended for 142 mosques and 20 Muslim organizations as part of the yearly assistance given by the city to Muslim communities in the observance of the month of worship, prayer, and fasting.

The Office of the City Mayor already delivered food packs to 40 mosques, including some mosques in Boulevard and Barangay Ma-a.

The food packs consist of five kilograms of rice, noodles, and sardines that will benefit hundreds of beneficiaries from Tausog, Iranun, Sama, Maguindanao, Kagan, and Maranao tribes.

The city is expected to deliver food packs in two batches - one week before the beginning of Ramadan and one week before the celebration ends.

These will be given directly to the community mosques through the joint effort of the Madrasah Team, Civil Security Unit team, Task Force Davao, and Fire 911, which helped load the food packs.
