Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) chief Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario, Jr. identified the ASG sub-leader as Abdullah Indanan, alias Guro.
Also surrendered to Joint Task Force Basilan were 10 other ASG members.
According to Joint Task Force Basilan commander Brigadier General Domingo Gobway, the surrender came four days after the neutralization of ASG leader Radzmil Jannatul alias Khubayb.
“The surrender was facilitated by our troops in collaboration with Hadji Samad of the MILF CCCH-GPH and other MILF commanders and personalities,” Gobway said.
The former ASG members also turned over 11 high-powered firearms including six M16 rifles, M1 Carbine, two M16A1 rifles, M16 rifle with M203 attached, and an M4 rifle.
ASG leader Radzmil Jannatul was killed during a 15-minute firefight at Sitio Center, Barangay Baiwas, Sumisip, Basilan on March 25.
Jannatul’s body was recovered at the encounter site and was positively identified by the operatives.
Rosario commended the troops for the successes and attributed them to the unwavering support of the local government units, partners, and stakeholders of the military in Basilan.
