The funding request was approved two months after it was filed.
Evangelista said he filed a request to the Office of the President last January 10 for the proposed development of parks and playground within the compound of the Santo Tomas local government.
On March 7, the Bureau of Treasury sent a letter to Evangelista, informing him that the P8, 000, 000 funding was transferred to the Santo Tomas LGU’s account for the implementation of the Park Development Project by the Evangelista administration this year.
Evangelista said he thanked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the Bureau of Treasury 11 (BOT 11) for facilitating his administration’s request for funding.
The mayor said the park development project was timely because the playing equipment in the park are broken and the sharp edges pose danger to children.
“Of course, we will see to it that the fund will be disbursed based on the existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator lawyer Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said she assured the public that the #BantayInfra program would oversee the implementation of the proposed project to ensure that the project would be implemented based on the design, standards, and specifications of the project.
“Community engagement and economic development are the thrust of #BantayInfra.
