Santo Tomas LGU releases pension to 6,210 senior citizens

DAVAO CITY —The Municipal Government of Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte will release its social pension to 6,210 indigent senior citizens on March 16 to 18, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said Monday.

“Sa tanang senior citizens dinhi sa atong lungsod. Karong Marso 16 -18, ipanghatag na ang inyong social pension pinaagi sa opisina sa MSWDO. Tungod kini sa atong request na mahatag on time ang social pension kay kabalo ko na daghan naglisod na mga senior karong panahona," Evangelista said. 

He said that currently, every senior citizen will be receiving P1,500 social pension.

Evangelista said that his administration is looking for an alternative program that would provide the seniors a better healthcare and grant them economic support for their well-being.

“For 2022, maningkamot kita na mahatag pa og health program para sa mga senior nato og labaw pa niini ang paghatag sa ilaha ug economic support aron atong mapalapdan ang serbisyong mahatag sa ilaha,” he said.

Meanwhile, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office head Leilani Mae Rafol,  said that a representative, who wishes to claim the social pension of a senior citizen, will only need to present an authorization letter, Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) ID of the beneficiary, and a valid ID of the authorized representative.

Rafol said she appealed to all beneficiaries to  follow the prescribed schedule since some barangays were  clustered intended  for the social pension payout distribution.
