The city, however, instructed the vendors to leave the area once the coastal road is fully open to vehicle traffic.
The City Information Office (CIO) in its report Friday said that the flea market will open twice a day from 5a.m to 8 a.m and from 3 p.m to 7 p.m.
Vendors have sprouted since the coastal road was opened for people wanting to see the project.
In the current set-up, vendors are already occupying the sidewalk at the entrance of the Coastal Road and they need to remove their stalls at the Talomo portion immediately.
According to the city’s Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) head Paul Bermejo, vendors were already briefed on where to position their stalls and that these are only temporary.
Bermejo said the city conducted an orientation on Wednesday (March 9) with vendors for the opening of the flea market. The orientation was also participated by representatives from the Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Development (BCCAD), Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, Barangay Captain of Bago Aplaya, City Health Offices, and other agencies.
"We requested them to move out from the area they are occupying once the coastal road opens,” Bermejo said.
Bermejo said that an estimated 25 stalls may be accommodated in the flea market, but this number may be finalized only after ASU finishes placing the markings.
Vendors could sell food, accessories, and RTWs.
Vendors were also oriented on food handling by the representatives of the City Health Office (CHO).
They are also required to have their trash bins for their garbage disposal and to bring the trash outside of the designated collecting areas in Barangay Bago Aplaya.
