Peace body in Davao Oriental assures fair and orderly May 9 elections

The executive members of Davao Oriental Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) committed to beef up efforts to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the 2022 polls.

Governor Nelson Dayanghirang emphasized during the PPOC Executive Committee Meeting Tuesday (March 8) held at the Tourism Complex in Mati City the need for all key actors to coordinate and adhere to the new guidelines and policies of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to ensure a fair, safe and successful implementation of the election– from the campaign period until the election day.

Comelec Provincial Election Supervisor Lawyer Krisna Samantha Caballero, for her part also gave an orientation to the security sectors about the campaign guidelines and prohibitions which include the house-to-house campaigning and crowding, which according to her violate minimum public health protocols. 

Meanwhile, the soldiers and police also assured to maintain order and security throughout the election period.

Apart from the security forces, also present during the meeting were the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other concerned agencies.
