NPA rebel’s body exhumed

DAVAO CITY- Government forces exhumed the body of a fallen communist rebel at a forested vicinity of Brgy. Lumiad, Paquibato District this city over the weekend.

The body of Ritchel Daydayan alias Toto Seloy was recovered in a shallow grave at Pintoy Hill, Purok Banban of said barangay by the military under 1003rd Infantry Brigade and members of Paquibato District Police and PNP Forensic Unit 11.

Captain Mark Anthony Tito, the chief of Division of Public Affairs Office (DPAO) of 10th Infantry Division said Daydayan was a victim of the communist terrorist group (CTG) “Kangaroo Court” or so-called “Hukumang Bayan” under the leadership then of Leoncio Pitao alias Parago, commander of Pulang Bagani Command 1 operating in said place.

He was 35 years old when summarily executed in 2013.

The discovery of the skeletal remains of Daydayan was made possible because of the information provided by the Peace Builders and the Barangay Lumiad community.

Lieutenant Colonel Allan Tesoro, 27IB commander expresses his deepest sympathy to the family of the victim as he condemned the cruel act of the CTG.

“This is a testament of the brutality of the CTG.They have no regard for human lives, killing even their fellow comrade. It is contrary to what they are advocating that they are respecting human rights,” Tesoro said.

Brigadier General Consolito Yecla, 1003rd Infantry (RAPTOR) Brigade commander said it is very disappointing that the life of this fellow citizen was lost because of this inhumane prosecution.

Yecla reminded the community about the culture of security to report all suspicious people and unnecessary activities that may happen in their place.

“Let us not allow the CTG to recover the areas that were already cleared from CTG influence. Let us all work together to sustain the peaceful situation that we are having right now here in the 1003rd Brigade’s Area of Operation,” Yecla said.
