Speaking before the beneficiaries, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said the release of their wages manifests the municipal government’s unwavering support for Tomasinos who lost their jobs and livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Samtang naa pa ang DOLE maningkamot ko ug ang akong administrasyon na makakuha og dugang pundo sa TUPAD para makahatag kita og hinabang sa mga Tomasinong nanginahanglan isip tabang sa gobyerno,” Evangelista said.
The Santo Tomas LGU hired displaced workers for temporary employment in exchange for community services.
Evangelista said he told the beneficiaries to use wisely the money they received from TUPAD, especially in providing for the needs of their family.
“Since naa pa kita sa pandemya, unta gamiton ninyo ang kwarta para makatabang sa mga panginahanglan sa inyong pamilya. Naghinaut ako na ang tabang sa gobyerno ug ang pagpaningkamot namo sa Santo Tomas LGU makatabang sa inyong sitwasyon karon,” Evangelista said.
Evangelista thanked DOLE for the continued partnership and support given by the labor agency to his “Aksyon Sa Kabuhayan” program.
During the payout, the local chief executive was joined by Ricky Inodioan, Punong Barangay of Barangay Tibal-og, Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista, Michael Angelo L. Jorgeo, TUPAD Coordinator, and PESO Manager Julie T. Gonzaga.
Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator lawyer Elisa Evangelista disclosed that the Evangelista administration’s “Aksyon Sa Kabuhayan” program has been helping a lot of displaced workers especially during the pandemic.
