“For our family welfare program, naa na ta’y mga solo parent ng ana issuehan og IDs ug kadtong ilahang monthly na subsidy naa ta’y 5,267 nga nahatagan (For our family welfare program, we’ve issued IDs to solo parents, and 5,267 solo parents already received their monthly subsidy),” Julie Dayaday, Head of the CSWDO, said in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).
Under Executive No. 25, Series of 2024, solo parents in the city are entitled to a monthly cash subsidy of P1000 to augment their income.
Dayaday explained that not all solo parents are eligible for the subsidy as it is intended for solo parents who are indigents and are either unemployed or employed but are minimum wage earners.
“Naa ta’y basehan sa paghatag og monthly subsidy katong minimum wage earner ug kadtong indigent nato nag mga solo parent (Only solo parents who are indigent and are minimum wage owners are entitled to this subsidy),” she said.
In order to qualify for the subsidy, the single parent must be a resident of Davao City, have a valid CSWDO Solo Parent Identification Card, and be either unemployed or working for a daily minimum salary, regardless of their employment status.
Also, a designated social worker must have evaluated the single parent and produced a Social Case Study Report.
Other than the subsidy, the CSWDO also conducts trainings for solo parents such as on responsible parenthood, disaster management and preparedness, as well as seminars to remind parents of their responsibility to ensure that children are free from any form of abuse. Referrals to livelihood programs are also given to solo parents. CIO
