Isaiah 11:1-2
TAKEAWAY: It is obvious that this is a clear prediction of the Lord Jesus. It implies that the Messiah will appear in history in a very obscure way- A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse. Like a great tree that has been cut down, the ancestry of Jesus represented in David, son of Jesse, had gone into obscurity. But out of that lowly stump will arise a shoot, the Messiah, who will be filled with the Spirit of God. When our Lord is referred to as the Son of David in the gospels, it is always with regards to His royalty, but when He is called the stump of Jesse, it refers to His humble beginnings. This Christmas, the humility of King of kings is something to ponder about. Amen.....(a message from Pastor Deepak)
